ROB RUN Best Weapons: Close, Mid & Long Range Picks

The best ROB RUN weapons by role for the launch build: SMGs, shotguns, rifles and snipers, with damage, RPM and the loadout pairings that work.

Last Updated: 2026-11-06

Quick answer. Take the AP Scalar for close range, the RC 5.56 for mid-range and the Vulture 50 when you need reach. The TAG-12K is the best doorway shotgun, and the LM 249 is the right pick when a clan fight turns into a hold. Pair one primary with one role you cannot already cover.

  • Best close-range primary: AP Scalar (233.3 paper DPS).
  • Best beginner rifle: RC 5.56 (177.9 paper DPS, forgiving cadence).
  • Best long-range pick: Vulture 50 (36 damage per shot).
  • Best sustained-fire pick: LM 249 (706 RPM, 18 damage).

Buy for the range you fight

Most Looty Bay fights are close. A high-RPM SMG beats a rifle you cannot aim under pressure.

How to pick a weapon in ROB RUN

The game does not publish a weapon class list or a recoil table. The practical way to choose is to answer three questions:

  1. Where will the fight happen? Doorway, street or roofline.
  2. What can I afford to lose? A Black Market rifle is a bad first purchase if you are still dying to store alarms.
  3. What does my other slot cover? Two close-range guns leave a street-sized hole in your loadout.

The tier list→ ranks every tracked weapon by role and paper DPS. This page is the short list for actually buying or looting one.

Best close-range weapons

AP Scalar — the best all-round SMG

Stat Value
Damage 14
RPM 1000
Paper DPS 233.3
Marks Mk1, Mk2, Mk3

The AP Scalar turns a doorway into a damage window. At 1000 RPM it is the fastest tracked weapon, and 14 damage per shot is enough when four shots land in the time another gun fires one. It is also common enough that losing one does not end a session.

Use it when you are pushing a store interior, clearing a stairwell or defending a base entrance. Do not use it to trade shots across a street; that is the RC 5.56's job.

TAG-12K — the best burst shotgun

The TAG-12K fires 9 pellets for 8 damage each at 240 RPM, which works out to 288 paper DPS if the spread connects. That is the highest number in the tracked list, and it is also the most misleading. A shotgun that misses deals zero.

Its real value is the first second of a fight. If you open a door and the target is inside, the TAG-12K ends the exchange before the other player can react. If the target is ten metres away, bring something else.

ORDR-12 — the slower, harder-hitting alternative

The ORDR-12 has the same 9 × 8 damage profile at 171 RPM. It hits as hard per shot but cycles slower, which makes it more forgiving on ammunition and less forgiving on missed openings. Take it if you tend to fire once and reposition.

Harris 500 — the doorway trap

At 120 RPM the Harris 500 is the slowest shotgun in the tracked list. It is also the one that punishes a bad push hardest. This is a defensive weapon: hold an angle, let someone walk into it, then reset.

Best mid-range weapons

RC 5.56 — the best rifle for new players

Stat Value
Damage 16
RPM 667
Paper DPS 177.9
Marks Mk1, Mk2, Mk3

The RC 5.56 is not the top of the DPS table, but it is the easiest rifle to use. Six hundred sixty-seven RPM is fast enough to punish a missed burst and slow enough to stay on target. It covers the distance between a doorway and the far side of a street, which is where most escapes happen.

If you are buying your first proper gun, buy this one. The best build page→ pairs it with a cheap secondary and explains why.

JP-7 and PDW90 — the aggressive alternatives

The JP-7 (15 damage, 750 RPM, 187.5 DPS) and the PDW90 (13 damage, 857 RPM, 185.7 DPS) both out-DPS the RC 5.56 on paper. They trade range for rate of fire. Pick them if your plan is to get close, not to hold a street.

STAR-H — the hard-hitting rifle

The STAR-H deals 21 damage at 500 RPM for 175 paper DPS. It is the compromise between a rifle and a marksman weapon: fewer shots, more weight per shot. It rewards players who aim before they fire.

Best long-range weapons

Vulture 50 — the best sniper

Stat Value
Damage 36
RPM 240
Paper DPS 144.0
Marks Mk1, Mk2

The Vulture 50 is the hardest-hitting tracked weapon. One shot does more damage than two AP Scalar bullets, and at 240 RPM it can follow up faster than most players expect from a sniper. Its paper DPS is low because it assumes continuous fire at a rate you will rarely achieve.

Use it to watch an exit, cover a cargo run or punish someone holding a rooftop. Do not carry it as your only weapon into a bank interior.

SR Reaper — the flexible marksman rifle

The SR Reaper (17 damage, 750 RPM, 212.5 DPS) is the better general-purpose ranged pick. It fires fast enough to defend itself at mid-range and hits hard enough to matter at distance. If you want one gun that can do both, this is the closest thing in the current list.

Best budget weapons

The CB45 pistol (14 damage, 545 RPM, 127.2 DPS) is the reliable starter sidearm. It is not a primary, but it is the difference between a failed reload and a finished fight. The MC-10 (12 damage, 667 RPM, 133.3 DPS) is the cheap SMG to take when you expect to lose the gun.

Do not spend Black Market money on a budget weapon. Loot it, use it, and sell the cargo you took with it.

What to pair

Primary Secondary Why it works
AP Scalar RC 5.56 Close pressure plus street reach
TAG-12K Vulture 50 Interior burst plus exit watch
RC 5.56 CB45 One gun for most fights, a pistol for reloads
LM 249 AP Scalar Hold a line, then push the reload
SR Reaper CB45 Range-first loadout with a cheap backup

The rule behind the table: your second slot should cover the range your first slot cannot. A shotgun and an SMG are the same slot with different skins.

FAQ

What is the best gun in ROB RUN right now?

The AP Scalar is the best close-range all-rounder, and the RC 5.56 is the best mid-range pick for most players. The TAG-12K has the highest burst damage if the spread connects.

Is a shotgun better than an SMG?

At doorway range, yes. The TAG-12K and ORDR-12 end fights faster than any SMG. Beyond a few metres, the SMG wins because the pellets miss.

Should I buy weapons or loot them?

Loot first. Weapons spawn in the city, and the Black Market is better used for gear you cannot reliably find. Buy a rifle only when you have storage and a bank balance.

Do Marks change the ranking?

Yes. A Mark 3 version of a mid-tier gun can beat a Mark 1 version of a top-tier gun. Check the Mark before comparing two weapons.
